Il Sogno"I was upset, Mum. You upset me."
She couldn't seem to make the connection. I argued with her on the verge of tears for no more than another five minutes, then I went off to bed, tired, upset and confused.
I fell asleep with a dark cloud churning in my brain, and a headache in my left eye.
In the night, I woke to darkness and silence. After a few moments, I realised that the darkness was dull light from the east, and the silence was wind on the grass outside. Something compelled me to get out of bed. I peeked out the window, and the breeze melted onto my hot face. I couldn't resist the urge to go outside and bathe in the sheer freshness of that breeze.
The sleeping world outside was incredible. So utterly still, and yet alive with movement: the puppetry of the Wind. I stood on the damp grass and closed my eyes, taking that wind deep into my body and then expelling it back into the world.
A sound made me open my eyes, but not suddenly. I wasn't scared, just curious to see HairIt was your hair that struck me first. Thick, messy, dark; It was love at first sight.
I remember the first time I ran my fingers through it vividly. It was like magic.
I'm scared to touch your hair now.
It's caked in blood. Thick, messy, dark; I've lost you. Milly.Milly.

They call me Milly and I’m a cat,
When I turn up, they all shout “Scat!”
“Get out of here you filthy cat!”
It’s not my fault that I’m not clean,
And all those humans are really mean.
If they only washed me, then I’d be clean.
But now on this dark stormy night,
Perhaps I can prove myself right,
And so I slip softly into the night.
Oh, I never knew how much I hated the rain,
But I persist, cleanliness is not something to feign,
And I continue to stride, soggy, through the rain.
When it stops I head back home,
There isn’t any time to roam,
I’ve got to show everyone at home!
I squelch inside through the kitty door,
They’ll be proud of me, that’s for sure,
But no, I get prodded quickly out the door.
They call me Milly and I’m a cat.
When I turn up, they all shout “Scat!”
